Walker County, Texas

Amateur Radio Group

REVISED:  08-04-2015

The Walker County Amateur Radio Group (WCARG) exists to provide and  improve a variety of amateur "ham radio" activities and interests, in and around the Huntsville, Texas area. We operate and maintain a VHF repeater in Huntsville, along with having access to ARES VHF and UHF repeaters.  The WCARG also owns and operates a fully functional HF CW/SSB station. The group is a 501.3c operation... and greatly appreciates donations to assist in supporting a wide variety of communication efforts and programs. The group supports and is associated with Walker County Amateur Radio Emergency Services (ARES), during all civil emergencies (including SKYWARN* activations), as well as supporting a variety of community "social" activities. (* SKYWARN is a service of the National Weather Service - NOAA/NWS).

Due to consequences of recent flooding at Fire Station No. 2, the WCARG will temporarily be holding regular monthly meetings at 9 AM on the 4th Saturday of the month, at Huntsville's "Fire Station No. 1", located in southwest Huntsville at the intersection of Veteran's Memorial & Daisy Lane.  ( GPS 30 40.945N   95 33.196W)  We welcome any and all visitors!

WCARG performs regularly scheduled ARRL sanctioned, F.C.C. license examinations (Novice thru Extra Class) at regularly scheduled and "on demand" sessions. See "Club Activities & Notices" for further details. (RSVP - Contact: W5HOW)

Net operations are conducted at 7 PM each Monday evening.
