FORECAST DISCUSSIONS
"Forecast Discussions" are written by forecasters in the respective National Weather Service Forecast Offices (NSWFO) as a means of coordinating with forecasters in the media and other NWS facilities. These products are typically written around 0200, 1000, 1500 and 2000 local time, but are often updated as conditions warrant. They often provide significant comments regarding the contents of the TAF (or what was NOT stated or MAY be added at a later time). Prudent users of TAF's are well advised to also review the "Forecast Discussions".

It is also possible to construct customized weather maps which can display not only barometric pressure, temperature, relative humidity...but also depict areas of VFR/MVFR and IFR. It is possible to depict such information on an hour to hour basis by downloading METAR reports and transferring them to software which is readily available on the internet from such places as the "Weather Net". Two such programs are "Weather Graphics" and "Digital Atmosphere"...both of which permit the creation of high resolution maps for any location...for any desired scale.
